There is a small window of availability for this variety which makes them even more special. Meyer lemons are a mandarin/lemon hybrid and are much less tart but recognizably lemony. They do have acidity too, but significantly less than regular lemons. They’re sweet enough that they can be added raw to various dishes; although you probably still wouldn’t want to eat one whole like you would an orange, you can mix chunks or slices of Meyer lemon into salads and salsa. If making lemonade much less sugar is required. The zest is excellent for baking lemon deserts and breads.
